Five

My newest blog buddy, Caity, recently wrote a wonderful blog post entitled Five Words. She was given a set of five words and was told to write out what they meant to her. I requested five words to blog about and she was kind enough to give me five. So here they are:

Design

I’m really glad Caity chose this word. It’s one of the most important words in my life. I’ve been designing in one way or another for over ten years. I’ve been a designer since the age of nine. I’m constantly thinking of ways to better establish my career. Yes, career, not job. Design is my life. I breathe it, I wear it, I sleep in it. You may not know it or not, but you do as well. There’s some aspect of design in our daily lives, but more importantly, it’s my life. I’m in love with a designer. Someone who has the same passions as I do. ย I love it. I could do an entire blog about my life and design, but I guess I’ll cut it short. Design is my life.

Religion

This is one I struggled with. Not physically, but in terms of discussing religion and my life on this blog. I rarely make this blog personal for the amount of readers I receive. I don’t know who is reading my blog, although I really shouldn’t care. Not that this has anything to do with religion! However, this comes at a perfect time. I have been following the beliefs of the Seventh Day Adventist Church for the past five years. On Saturday, I’ll finally be baptized into the church! I was raised Baptist (to an extent) however, I found myself filling void of my own personal beliefs.

I don’t discuss religion on Static-Romance because I don’t have time to argue with people. There’s three things a person can blog about that can cause backlash: race, religion, and politics. I try to avoid two of those, minus race because I will gladly blog about racial issues within ALL nationalities. However, I’ve become weary of arguing with people about religion before I even open my mouth. The daily judgment process I go through just because I state that I am a Christian is ridiculous and tiresome. I will never deny my faith. I will proudly proclaim wherever I may be (see my about me page). I do not hide it, but I simply will not go into great detail in blogging about it. I’m too busy to argue with people. I love everyone. I am not hateful or judgmental. I don’t know where people get these ideas of crazy Bible-thumping Christians; but seriously, some of us a liberal and open-minded to others. I love my religion and I enjoy going to church every week. This is also why you’ll never see me blog on a Saturday, unless I’ve incorrectly dated an auto-post.

Relationship

My relationship with David is crazy. This is probably the other side of my life, outside of design. We’ve been dating since October 6, 2005. We have our ups and downs. Most of our downs was due to our distance. We spent most of our relationship in a long-distance relationship. They say long-distance relationships don’t last outside of a year. Well, I guess we’re the exception. We have a tolerance for things though. My relationship evolves everyday into something different. I can’t explain it accurately, but we’re constantly changing. There’s been very few times in our relationship, when things were at a stand still. We’re constantly becoming something new; but I don’t mind at all.

Even when we were not dating or taking a break, we were still best friends. We talked for 12+ hours a day. We spend a sickening amount of time together. In the world’s eyes, we’re probably way too young to get married. In the world’s eyes, we’re probably a mess. They’re right. We are a mess. I guess that’s how we’re still in one piece. We both have our battle scars; but we’re in it for the long run.

Music

Music and I have an on and off relationship. We recently reconciled after a year of legal separation. I am very picky about the music I listen to. The older I get, the stranger my music seems to be. I have been a music addict for years. I would record music videos on VHS and play them back. I still have a few of those old tapes. The first CD I ever bought with my own money was Will Smith’s MIAMI. (LOL!) I try to keep and ear for different music, especially music from different cultures. Right now I am discovering many new artists. You should probably stalk me on Last.Fm to find out what I’m listening to.

Blog

I lost my blogging virginity in the Winter of 2004. Since then, I’ve owned/operated over ten types of blogs on various blogging platform. However, this site is my baby. It’s been on the back burner once or twice (our three times..) but I still love it. I tell everyone who wants to know about blogging, that this is my first baby. I named her, nourished her, dressed her, and shared her with the world. She’s growing up so fast. She’ll be three years-old before I know it. Blogging is just another way for be to express how I feel and to share what I love. ย It’s an extension of my designing and my writing combined into one. It’s hard to describe blogging’s place in my life other than it’s become a necessity. It’s how I feed out my emotions in some aspects. I wouldn’t do without it.

Want five words of your own? Comment and I’ll reply with your five words!

  1. Ooh I’m so glad you participated! I’m glad you enjoyed the words that I chose for you and I enjoyed reading what you had to say about them.

I love your design and I am always inspired by some of the design ideas that you post. I’m glad that you are so passionate about it.

I only mentioned religion because you mentioned it on your about page once and I was intrigued and wondered what you had to say about it. I personally am a very open person but I do understand that a lot of people aren’t so accepting. I think it’s great that you know what you believe in and I think it is wonderful.

I’m glad you have such a deep and nice relationship even if it has its ups and downs. I love how you said “we are constantly becoming new.” I think that is very important in a relationship.

Last.FM says we have MEDIUM music compatibility and I added you!

You’ve been blogging a long time here! My website is fairly new but I have been blogging for a long time. It’s great to find other bloggers who seem as passionate about it as I am!

    Thanks for doing this! ๐Ÿ˜€
    .-= Caity´s last blog ..A really sweet surprise. =-.

    • I don’t mind speaking about religion at all! In fact, I thank you for choosing the word because it’s showing me to be more open about it here on Static-Romance. I’m dipping into a new part of my spiritual life and I shouldn’t worry about arguing with others, even if it’s unavoidable. I just have so many frustrations from dealing with it on a daily basis. People assume I’m judgmental before they even know my last name because of what I believe in. It’s ridiculous!

I added you on Last.Fm as well ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. My words will be:
    1. programming – because like yours, it’s my hobby. I love doing it.
    2. blogging
    3. books
    4. family

Wow, you’ve been doing designs since you were 9. I like your designs, it looks great.

  3. My mother’s been on my mind quite a bit recently. I’ve been wondering where she’s at, how she’s doing and all that. But I also don’t want to go behind my father’s wishes and seek up on my mother. It’ll bring more stress like it has before. So yeah I agree with you.

  4. I love this idea! And I know where you’re coming from when it comes to the relationship part. Dylan and I have been through so much but now we’re closer than ever. People on the outside can think what they want but they’re only ever going to be on the outside, they’ll never know what really goes on. ๐Ÿ™‚

I think I’d like to try this. Five words please. Then you find pictures you think represent each word right? Fun!

  5. I have no problems with religion. I am an Atheist, but that does not mean I condemn religion. I don’t agree with a lot of stuff regarding religion, especially Christianity, but I am not going to bash it either. I will become very cantankerous if someone tried to convert me after I told them to STOP. XD But otherwise, I’ve had friends who were Mormons, Catholics, Protestants, and etcetera and am glad I did. Being friends with people based on their personality is more important than having religion as a factor.

    • I agree! ๐Ÿ™‚ I have awesome atheist and agnostic friends. We get along just great. They didn’t even know I was religious because they figured most religious people are constantly bearing them down with their beliefs and I’m quite the opposite.

  6. Hi,
I think it is great you are willing to witness for your Christian beliefs. I am a SDA, too, but find that at times we, including myself, fail to use all the opportunities that God gives us to witness.

I hope your boyfriend is a SDA, too, or it could lead to problems.

    Best wishes,

    Bruce G.

    • Thank you for your comment Bruce. My fiance is SDA. He was raised in the SDA and baptized as an adolescent. I’m glad you found my site. I hope you continue to read. I’ll be sure to share more of my religious journeys here.

  7. Your blogs are always so well thought out ( i assume lol) and refreshing. I’m digging the Five. Iunno about the Will Smith cd, but I’m digging the Five lol. And that’s sweet that you guys were still friends throughout your relationship and separation. That’s what we need to learn as adults, learn how to be a friend first before acting all crazy and rushing into relationships just to be called someones “boo” lol. Love it. I should spend more time over here. Hope ya don’t mind ๐Ÿ˜‰

  8. I absolutely love this! It’s great that Caity gave you five random words and you took them and made them your own, really special. ๐Ÿ™‚

I love that you’re so passionate about what you do, specifically with design. To really put thought into every single detail is a great quality to have as a designer.

    Greatness!

  9. Angie! ๐Ÿ˜€

    Guess whoooo. I’m back.
And I’m so excited that you’re still around.
All the people I use to know have closed. ๐Ÿ™

I’m an athiest, but I respect religious people
they have a…calm feel to them. xD I’m not judging
or stereotyping anyone o_o don’t take it the wrong way
but it’s great that you have a faith you believe in. ๐Ÿ˜€

And It’s still great to hear you’re passionate about design
so I guess this means you’ll be hanging around? ๐Ÿ˜›

  10. This was such a great meme. No surprise, seeing as it came from Caity (love her site). I might have to take part in this as well. ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. Religion will always open lengthy and never ending debate, I can see why you don’t blog about it. I avoid blogging it too, as even though I am an atheist I am never going to know enough about any side of the argument to have a balanced and informative debate. Also, I don’t really want to blog about something as personal as religion either.

I’m with you on music, music is so essential in life.

  12. I actually recently discussed religion on my blog, it turned out alright and no blood was shed thankfully. I encouraged people to give their views and be mature about it, and it was awesome. I guess I got lucky huh?

The pictures you have along with your words are gorgeous.

Can I have 5 words please? This looks like fun. โžก ๐Ÿ˜Ž
