Blog Design Inspiration: iCupcake.org

This morning, I was visiting a few new blogs when I stumbled upon the redesign of iCupcake.Org by blog owner, Jordan. Every element of the design works together to create a beautiful blog. I’m very impressed with the soft color palette, usage of cufón, and the perfect combination of CSS elements. I couldn’t help but blog about. iCupcake definitely has been my inspiration of the day. What a great way to start off your morning.

Well-Ordered Comments

As seen above, the comment section of iCupcake is completely organized, easy to read, and stylish. It’s not too overwhelming and the CSS is perfect.

Color and Type Elements

Jordan’s design offers amazing contrasts and usage of her color palette. She explores the subtlety of soft tans and blues, mixed with bolder blues and pinks. Her mix of different typefaces make a wonderful combination as well.

Beautiful Vectors and Letterpress

The most striking thing of the design is the amazing header image, featuring a clean, simple vector and gorgeous inset type.  The letterpress effect is popular in many web designs. iCupcake’s inset type along with the textured background create quite an eye-pleaser, drawing many to focus on the header. The footer also features a cute set of baking vectors, which also co-exist perfectly with the color palette.

I can begin to think of the amount of resources I can use for the upcoming re-launch of Static-Romance on Valentine’s Day. What are some of your favorite inspiring blog designs?

  1. Goodness! That site is not only cute and colorful but very very organized! I wish I knew how to code like that! Definitely inspired me to try harder as to learning how to code CSS and WordPress!

    • The theme that I’m using is Bueno by WooThemes. It’s available for free. The iCupcake theme is a personal web design that the designer created herself. You could always contact her for a quote on a custom design. I hope that helps!
